news Lido/RouteManual Charts to the Flightsim Community 2015-05-13

We are pleased to announce the release of Lido/RouteManual airport and enroute charts to the flightsim community through Navigraph Charts system. Supplied by Lufthansa Systems, these charts are used professionally by major airlines around the world. Lido/RouteManual charts show true-to-scale topographic information such as mountain heights and river courses, and are oriented magnetic north up. This means, for example, that the depiction of the different take-off and landing procedures with regard to the time and distance between airports is always precise. Please visit for more information about Navigraph Charts.

The worldwide Lido/RouteManual airport and enroute chart coverage has replaced the previous charts coverage. The charts will receive quarterly updates, just like before. See for an interactive coverage map.

How to get the new charts

If you are a new Charts user, follow these steps:

  1. Choose a subscription
  2. Download Charts Desktop 5 for Windows, and/or use the Charts Cloud web app on any hardware with a supported browser
  3. Get full access to the charts database for the duration of the subscription
  4. Get full access to the iPad app when released in June

If you are an existing Charts user, please keep this in mind:

  1. If you are a Charts Desktop user, you need to download Charts Desktop 5. Previous versions cannot install the new Lido/RouteManual charts
  2. Charts Desktop 5 does not support offline mode; it requires Internet access to start
  3. Charts Desktop 5 requires a subscription; it does not provide airport or enroute charts for individual purchase and download.
  4. Charts Desktop 5 still provides access to previously individually purchased airports, and can also online restore previous purchases
  5. If you already have a Charts subscription you will already have access to the new charts; if not, read about products and pricing below
  6. Charts access in Charts Desktop 5 will not be granted after subscription period ends (except to previously individually purchased airports)
  7. Some airports may have been discontinued in the new coverage - you may keep such previously individually purchased airports in Charts Desktop 5 but they will not receive further updates
  8. If you have existing “clips” in Charts Cloud, these will not be valid anymore since the chart names have changed

Upcoming iPad App

Scheduled to be released in the beginning of June 2015 is a native iPad version of Navigraph Charts. As in the Cloud and Desktop version of Navigraph Charts, the app will provide a worldwide coverage and unlimited download of updated airport and enroute charts for all Navigraph users who have signed up for a monthly subscription or one-year package (see products and prices below). The app will also feature an interface for streaming video tutorials, as in Charts Cloud and Desktop.

The main motivation for developing a native iPad app in addition to the existing Charts Cloud, which also runs on mobile devices, was to improve the rendering speed by locally caching chart data on the device. In addition, the charts will be displayed in the same vector format as shown in Charts Desktop. Hence, the app will allow pinch-zooming down to the very details of the large enroute charts.

Moreover, the app will feature a tabbed interface which allows a user to quickly reorder open charts into a preferred sequence. The tabs are color coded following the Lido charts legend to quickly find STARs, SIDs, and other types of diagrams. Furthermore, an annotation mode will allow users to scribble finger gestures on top of the charts to highlight points of interest.

Charts Products

We are now offering Navigraph Ultimate - a new Charts + FMS Data bundle product, available both as a monthly subscription and as a one-year package. The monthly subscription costs EUR 7.50 excl. VAT, and will automatically be billed every 30 days. There is no binding period; the subscription can be cancelled at any time. The one-year package is a one-time payment, and will not automatically be billed again; however, we offer a discounted renewal price for extending the package one more year. The new one year Charts + FMS Data bundle costs 64.90 Euro excl. VAT, lower than the current price for purchasing Charts and FMS Data individually. For detailed pricing information, see the table further down.

In order to streamline our Charts offering, we have now discontinued the system for individual airport purchase and download. We now only offer the Charts one-year package and the Ultimate Charts + FMS bundle one-year package and monthly subscription. In this way, the same products apply to all Charts interfaces: Charts Desktop, Charts Cloud web app and the upcoming Charts iPad.

Access to airports and enroute charts in Charts Desktop will be revoked after the paid period (monthly subscription or one-year package) ends, to further align it with Charts Cloud web app and the upcoming Charts iPad.

Together with the new chart format and the iPad app, both the Charts Desktop and the Charts Cloud have been upgraded. Charts Desktop users are requested to upgrade to Charts 5 in order to download the new charts; Charts 4 and below are not supported. Along with bug fixes, the new versions will also provide color coding of charts following the Lido charts legend, as in the iPad app. The chart loading times in Charts Cloud on mobile devices has been reduced for an improved user experience.

FMS Data Products

We have changed all our FMS Data products such that their validity is defined in calendar days instead of AIRAC cycles. In this way, the 13-cycle FMS Data package has changed to a one-year FMS Data product, and hence gives access to all cycles during one year (365 days) from the day of purchase.

Similarly, the validity of the 4-cycle product has changed from a period of 13 consecutive cycles to 365 days.

Finally, the single cycle product has been replaced by a 30-day FMS Data product which gives access to the current cycle(s) during a 30 day period from the day of purchase.

These changes ensures that the download access period will be the same in length regardless of the day of purchase; it is no longer needed to review the AIRAC release schedule upon purchase to determine how many days you may download. Of course, AIRAC cycles are kept to identify the 28-day revisions of the data, and new data will be released every 28 days - each cycle - as before.

For detailed pricing information about these new products, see the table below.

Please refer to the table below for the new products and prices, effective today. The "monthly" products are defined as 30 days from the date of purchase. The "1 year" packages are defined as 365 days from the date of purchase. To subscribe, go here.
